Home screen! A look at Dominik Fisch’s smartphone

In the “Homescreen!” series, we present the home screens of people from the social media, marketing, media and tech industries – including app recommendations and tips for everything from to-do lists to small games for in-between times. Today: Co-Managing Director of the social media agency Social Attention.

Dominic Fish: As content creator and co-managing director of Social Attention GmbH I not only produce video content for over two million followers on our social media channels, but also for our customers such as Immowelt, the Ahorn Group or Lindner Hotels & Resorts.

I use my smartphone to produce, analyze and inspire video content and of course for communication.

Social Media Analytics: The pulse of the content

Instagram (for Android), TikTok (for Android), YouTube Studio (for Android), LinkedIn (for Android) and Snapchat (for Android) take up most of the space on my homescreen. I don’t just use them for inspiration, but I also look primarily at the analytics. This allows me to track the performance of the content in real time and derive improvements.

I deactivated the notifications so that I wouldn’t be constantly distracted. threads (for Android) only made it to my home screen for a few weeks shortly after launch. However, I currently see no future for the platform after the creator with the most followers (Neymar with twelve million) was last active there months ago.

Video production and quick editing in between

We record video content either with a system camera or with the production iPhone. But of course I also use my smartphone for photos, stories and short videos. When I edit videos directly, I usually use it CapCut (for Android).

Since 99 percent of the editing is done in Premiere Pro, I use the Frame.io tool even more often. There I organize feedback and approval of the content with the editing team and the approval loops with our customers. The tool allows me to work flexibly from anywhere.

Phone, WhatsApp and Slack as the center of my daily communication

Since I work flexibly and am often on the move, good communication is the be-all and end-all. Probably unusual for my generation, but I am a big fan of the classic telephone call – I exchange ideas like this, especially with my co-managing director Aaron, sometimes several times a day.

We manage all internal communication at Social Attention Slack (for Android). Otherwise I use primary Whatsapp (for Android) for coordination with freelancers, customers or my management. And private communication also runs through it. Most of the time at least – a big sorry for the 116 unanswered chats!

Filming preparation with browser, emails and notes

I use the classic Safari browser for occasional research, and I deliberately only check my emails three to four times a day. I then answer all emails in one go on topics such as travel planning, filming planning and coordination with external stakeholders. The notes app is my extended brain: I record my thoughts there and use them as a reminder for scripts and hooks in video productions when I’m in front of the camera.

Dominik Fisch: Music as a source of energy

What is life without good music? I am a convinced user of Apple Music. In fact, I’m one of those people who doesn’t listen to any particular genre, but when I’m in a bit of a rut, 2010s EDM music pushes me back on track. Also Shazam (for Android) should not be missing.

When I’m out and about and hear a song that I like, I click on Shazam and then a shortcut takes it straight to my music library.

PS My background image was taken during a shoot at the Cape of Good Hope in Cape Town. It always reminds me of this beautiful landscape and where I would like to spend my next vacation.
