Marvel: Kevin Feige completely changes MCU continuity
With the addition of Marvel/Netflix series to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), the timeline of the Marvel Universe has changed again. But this time it’s good, Kevin Feige has just revealed the complete MCU timeline, from the very beginning to the last program released.
The mcu timeline is updated
Not long ago, Marvel/Netflix series have officially been added to the MCU. Marvel’s Daredevil, Marvel’s Jessica Jones, Marvel’s The Punisher, Marvel’s Luke Cage, Marvel’s Iron Fist And The Defenders therefore all officially joined the MCU a few weeks ago. Kevin Feige therefore decided to update the MCU timeline taking into account all the series. He even has them cut season by season to have millimeter precision of the evolution of the MCU.
From Iron Man in 2008, Marvel Studios applied itself to develop a universe where everything is connected. A titanic, ultra-impressive work, where each work responds to the previous one, where each new program is part of a larger dimension. And whether you like the MCU or not, it’s a remarkable piece of work.
Minor changes
Initially, series like Agents of SHIELD Or Inhumans had a rather vague connection with the rest of the Marvel Universe. It was not clear whether these programs were really hot or not. Then, it was the same question with the series Marvel/Netflix. Ultimately, it was the arrival of Disney+ that clarified things. Marvel Studios then used the Disney platform to offer series anchored in the MCU, the very first of which was WandaVision. Since then, Marvel series have been legion, and totally connect to the license films.
Kevin Feige therefore took advantage of the recent addition of the series Marvel/Netflix to update the MCU timeline. He even divided the series season by season to be as precise as possible. Finally, even short films like Long live the king are also present in this new timeline. Thus, the MCU timeline always begins with Captain America: First Avengers and concludes with season 2 of What If…?.
But some Marvel productions are still missing from this list. The series X-Men have obviously not been added. And yet, between Legion, Runaways, or The Gifted (to name just a few) there are a lot of them. But they have not yet been canonized. We can also notice the absence of Marvel Television animated series with Marvel’s MODOK And Marvel’s Hit Monkey which were nevertheless developed by Marvel Television, a former branch of Marvel Studios. Finally, Agents of SHIELD, Inhumans And Helstrom are also absent from this timeline, which still leaves doubt as to their formalization in the MCU…
