James Gunn has good news for the return of the DC series
Released in 2022, the series Peacemaker has largely convinced James Gunn fans. Recently, the filmmaker spoke about season 2 and the return of certain characters.

In 2021, James Gunn is recruited by DC Films to direct The Suicide Squad. Originally, James Gunn works for Marvel Studios and directed the first two parts of Guardians of the Galaxy. But the filmmaker is fired by Marvel Studios because of old problematic tweets. Warner sees an opportunity to recover James Gunn, whose mischievous spirit widely appeals to fans of the superheroic genre.
He then stages The Suicide Squad. If the film is a business failurewith only $168 million in box office revenue (for a budget of 185 million), especially because of the closure of cinemas following COVID-19, it’s a critical triumph. Warner then gives him the keys to direct Peacemaker, a series centered on the character of John Cenaalready present in The Suicide Squad. Some other characters like Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland); John Economos (Steve Agee) and Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) are also back. Peacemaker received very positive critical feedback, and the series is available on Amazon Prime Video In France.
Subsequently, James Gunn was called back by Marvel Studios to direct Guardians of the Galaxy: Happy Holidays And Guardians of the Galaxy 3, his last laps in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
From, James Gunn has been appointed by Warner to head DC Films. His mission is to resurrect the DC universe from its ashes with a whole new connected universe: the DC Universe (DCU). He therefore makes a clean slate of the past and separates himself from the great faces of DC Extended Universe (DCEU) as Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill And Gal Gadot. At present, only the characters of The Suicide Squadof Peacemaker and of Blue Beetle would be retained in the new DCU.
Peacemaker season 2
While the DCEU is dead, season 2 of Peacemaker is, however, still in development. A clue that leads us to believe that John Cena will stay in the new DCU. James Gunn even gave news about season 2 of Peacemaker on Threads. He notably declared that:
Many characters died in season 1. I am preparing a new intro for you with new characters.
Rest assured, Adedbayo, Harcourt and Economos are all safe and should return in this season 2. This is in any case what James Gunn confirmed. Vigilante will also be back in season 2 of Peacemaker. But James Gunn wanted to point out that season 2 will introduce many new characters. However, he did not speak about the integration of the series into the DCU.
