Black Panther is no longer the kind hero we knew
If T’Challa is one of the greatest heroes in the Marvel Universe, his next adventure will present him in a new and unusual light. Our vigilante will be presented under a much darker and more ambiguous prism.
Who is t’challa?
Black Panther was created in 1966 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. A character who has become emblematic, he is the first black vigilante in comics history. He opens the voice to many other characters like the Falcon (1969), Luke Cage (1972), John Stewart (1971) or even Black Lightning (1977). King of Wakanda, T’Challa is also the man under the Black Panther mask. Integrity hero, understanding king, talented vigilante, Black Panther is an emblematic figure in the history of Marvel comics.
In the cinema, he was first played by Chadwick Boseman of Captain America: Civil War in 2016, until his death in 2020. Subsequently it is Letitia Wright who plays his little sister Shuri, who took on the Black Panther costume in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Black panther as a vampire?
Except that the nice T’Challa will be presented in a darker profile in his next Marvel Comics adventure. Indeed, the king of Wakanda was bitten by a vampire and therefore became a bloodsucker himself. This story takes place in the upcoming Marvel Comics crossover titled Blood Hunt. No hero is safe from the threat of vampires, starting with T’Challa who is contaminated in Black Panther: Blood Hunt. Forced to reconcile his irresistible bloodlust and his intense love for his people, T’Challa will have to confront the dark secrets of Wakanda’s past and new villains inspired by real African mythology.
T’Challa is currently experiencing a succession of bad luck after being ousted from his throne in Black Panther Vol. 8. Since then, he has evolved as an independent vigilante on the streets of Wakanda. Here is the summary of this upcoming story:
BLACK PANTHER: BLOOD HUNT sees T’Challa, recently exiled, finally return to the capital of Wakanda. Only, he now serves an entirely different nation: the nation of vampires! One of the vampire’s first victims, but certainly not the last, T’Challa finds himself caught in a harrowing struggle between protecting his people from his new brothers, and satisfying his new irresistible bloodlust. Threatening his legacy as king as well as his deep connection to the Panther God, T’Challa reluctantly embarks on a quest from the vampire overlord to find ancient power. In doing so, he will uncover long-buried secrets about Wakanda’s history and encounter creatures of the night. As for Eaton and Karami, they will introduce new bloodsucking villains inspired by real African legends and mythologies.
A great program for vampire lovers and Black Panther fans.
