Before Superman Legacy, Creature Commando specifies its broadcast date
DC is banking on James Gunn to reboot the DC Universe. A mission was entrusted to the Guardians of the Galaxy director, who will write the first chapter of the new DC cinematic universe with Superman: Legacy. But before, the most impatient will be able to discover the first project of Gods and Monsters with Creature Commandos, whose distribution is becoming clearer.
Creature Commandos is in production.
Indeed, Creature Commandos will be the DCU’s first real project, launching this year. Before going behind the camera to direct Superman: Legacy, in which David Corenswet will take on the superhero costume alongside Rachel Brosnahan, James Gunn, who arrived at the head of DC Studios with Peter Safran, devoted himself to this animated series.
Planned for the Max platform, the animated series will follow a group of fighters made up of monsters trapped in the DC Comics universe that Amanda Waller set up and who is under the orders of John Economos.
James Gunn imagined this great DC team by connecting it directly to the action that takes place in the films. Thus, series, films and games intertwine in the same universe. When writing the seven episodes that make up Creature CommandosGunn explained that production was underway.
On the vocal casting side, the public will find Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, David Harbor, who will double Eric Frankenstein, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., and Maria Balalova will play Princess Illana Rostovic. Let us also mention Indira Warma as The Birde, Zoe Chao in Nina Mazursky, Alan Tudyk will play the role of Dr. Phosphorus, and Steve Agee will reprise the role of John Economos. Finally, the director’s brother, Sean Gunn will be Weasel and GI Robot.
A broadcast window that is becoming clearer
Suppose James Gunn is usually generous on his social network Threads by sharing a lot of information on upcoming projects, today, thanks to his brother Sean. In that case, we finally have a broadcast window for the series Creature Commandos. Until now, the only certain thing was that the program would see the light of day in 2024. But when?
Thus, in an interview given to ScreenRant, Sean Gunn announces that he plans to film important projects with his brother without being able to say more. And to say that “Creature Commandos will be released in the fall is incredible, and I can’t wait for the public to discover them.”
The diffusion of Creature Commandos is therefore clarified. Remember that Superman: Legacy is scheduled to hit theaters on July 11, 2025. In the meantime, determine which actress was chosen to play the antagonist, Circe, in the DC animated series.
