To publish on Facebook and Threads with a single click

There are many platforms that allow you to publish on several social networks at the same time. I use Hootsuite, but it is one of many that allow something like this.

The fact is that within Meta, owner of Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp and Threads, there are already cases in which you can publish on two at the same time (on Facebook and Instagram), but now it seems that the number will increase to three.

The company, a social media giant, is testing a functionality that allows the cross post between Facebook and Threads, its most recent bet in the competitive world of social platforms, designed to compete directly with Twitter/X. This tool promises more effective management of the content we publish, by allowing us to simultaneously share texts and links on both platforms with a single action.

Testing of this feature, for now, is limited to users of iOS and excludes the European Union, probably due to the strict data privacy regulations that characterize this region. The idea behind this functionality is not new within the Meta ecosystem; Let’s remember that since 2021 it is possible to share posts from Facebook to Instagram. What makes this update especially interesting is its focus on Threads, which seeks to establish itself as a solid alternative to other social networks focused on the immediacy of communication and public debate.

Integrating Threads with Meta’s wide range of applications could provide a significant boost to user adoption. Considering that the Meta family of applications reaches almost 4 billion users the mere possibility of a fraction of these starting to use the cross-posting feature could translate into a considerable increase in the content available on Threads.

One of the things that caught my attention is the concern over how user identity is handled in cross-posting. In the digital age, many of us choose to maintain different facets of our identity on different platforms; a practice that this new functionality could complicate if not handled carefully. The absence of a clear indication that a post has been shared from another account can lead to awkward situations, especially for those who value their privacy or want to keep their personal interactions separate from their public discussions.

In addition to cross-posting, Meta is testing a writing assistant based on artificial intelligence to help users write their posts, a clear indication that the company is exploring all possible avenues to improve the user experience.

This new feature has already been seen in some Threads posts and they have disclosed it in CT.
