His next game will revolutionize the way stories are told
Hideo Kojima, expected on Death Stranding 2 next year, gave news of Physint, one of his future projects. And according to his words, the game intends to blur the boundaries between cinema and video games more than ever.
Kojima, a big movie fan
With the presentation of Death Stranding 2 during the last State of Play on January 31, Hideo Kojima indeed returned to the forefront. 2THE game designer who revealed himself with his license Metal Gear Solid has since left Konami to found his studio, Kojima Productions, which allowed him to give birth to Death Stranding, considered one of the best games of the 2010s.
A work on which the creator could put his stamp without constraints, namely his science of game design, is ever more revolutionary, his sense of detail, realism, and narration, so much so that Death Stranding is to be compared to the radius of the 7th art. Kojima does not hide it; he is a cinema fan and close to Guillermo Del Toro (Pan’s Labirynth, The Shape of Water), with whom he worked on the PlayStation demo P.T.and who lends his features to a character from Death Stranding.
“It will be both a video game and a film.”
This passion for cinema, game designer talked about it in a recent HideoTube show. Following the announcement of the upcoming start of its game Physint on the occasion of the last State of Play Kojima came to provide some additional information, such as his desire to return to the spy and action genre, following fan requests.
If Kojima is discreet as usual about his next project, he very clearly implies that Physint will further blur the boundaries between cinema and video games. Something to delight fans of the Japanese creator and Death Stranding. We therefore recall that Hideo Kojima is currently working on Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, which is not expected before 2025, then OD which will probably be released in 2026, at the earliest (what about this mysterious project close to The Boys ?). We will therefore have to be very patient regarding Physint.
