I have finally been able to request the digital certificate from home and for free
The possibilities it gives us have a digital certificate They are very broad, allowing us to connect with public administrations and carry out all types of procedures. The problem why many do not request it, which is either paying or having to go to an identity accreditation office authorized by the National Mint and Stamp Factory. Fortunately, those two drawbacks are a thing of the past.
From now on it will be really easy for you to get and install a digital certificate by needing only two requirements: an electronic ID and a smartphone with NFC reader.
You only need a mobile phone with NFC and your ID
Thanks to a new update of the functions of the FMNT application, now you can get your digital certificate in a comfortable, simple and free way. The first step will be, of course, download the National Mint and Stamp Factory application, which is in a version that includes the new function in both the Play Store on Android and the AppStore on iOS.
Once the application is started, you will see that you can choose between the different identification methods. Among them you have the option of requesting a code, which you will later have to show at a registry office in person (you can search for the closest one among the 2,400 available in Spain here). Another method was the one that cost money. You could request the video-identification service with which to take photos holding your ID for 2.99 euros.
The big news is in option 3. Now you can use your electronic ID so that through the NFC chip of your mobile phone, the one you use to pay, you can read the information of the personal certificates containing your National Identity Document. Obviously, this will be especially useful especially if you do not have a electronic ID reader.
Below you will be shown the terms and conditions to accept them and you will have to enter a Email address. Make it a real one, since the next thing they are going to do is send you a 6-digit verification code. In addition, it will be later where they send you the option to download the certificate.
Get your certificate
After completing these steps, for the next ones you will need your ID on hand. The first thing is enter the CAN (Card Access Number) of the DNI. It is the number that appears at the bottom right of your document, although a very explanatory illustration appears in the app.
Next you will have to enter the ID PIN code. They would give it to you in an envelope when issuing or renewing it, although you may have changed it afterwards at one of the kiosks in the police stations.
Finally, once your identity has been verified by knowing the PIN code, it will be time for the certificates of the electronic document to be read. For it, Bring your ID closer to the NFC reading point on your mobile and hold it firmly while the process is completed.
Once all the steps are completed, you will receive a link in your email to download your certificate in .p12 format. You will also have it available for download from the application itself, once your request has been validated.
